In the prefecture of Preveza there are areas that are suitable for trekking (in river Aherondas, the forest of Lekatsa, the biotopes of Amvrakikos, the Ziros lake etc.). During the summer, there are many cultural events that take place, such as: "Nikopolia" enets, in the ancient theatre of Nikopolis, the Balkan festival of folklore dances. Further more, there is a "wine celebration" in Oropos village [1st Sunday of August] and the "sardela celebration" that takes place in the town of Preveza during August.

Where to go, what to see

  • The ancient Roman city of Nikopolis (that built 31 B.C.), with the walls, the ancient conservatoire and the ancient theatre
  • The river Aherondas, where you may have various sports activities (cannoe, rafting, etc.), well known from the ancient Greek mythology
  • The rock of Zalogo, place of the heroic sacrifice of the women from Suli, during Ottoman occupation
  • Nekromandio (oracle of the dead), a holly place in ancient Greece
  • The town of Preveza with the picturesque port and the intense nightlife
  • The island of Lefkada, (via the immersed tunnel of Aktio), with world-wide known beaches such Porto Katsiki, Kathisma, Agios Nikitas, etc.
  • Parga, a picturesque small town of Preveza, with the Venetian castle.
  • The important biotope of Amvrakikos gulf, with many protected species (near Arta)

With daily trips you may visit:

  • Ioannina, with Pamvotis lake and the small island, the museums, the archaeological site of ancient Dodoni, the cave of Perama, etc.
  • The villages of Zagori (30 Km from Ioannina) and Metsovo (50 Km from Ioannina), areas with traditional settlements
  • The islands Paxi and Antipaxi (boat from Parga) as well as the cosmopolitan Corfu island (ferry boat from Igoumenitsa). You may travel to Paxi and Antipaxi directly by taking the small boats which depart from Lygia or Ammoudia e.g. next to or very close to the apartments!
  • Arta, another city of Epirus, with many Byzantine monuments, such as churches and monasteries, etc.
